SBBCollege provided life-saving skills in Kern County’s Sidewalk CPR Day

To coincide with National CPR Week (June 1-7) SBBCollege Bakersfield, in collaboration with the American Heart Association (AHA) and Kern County Emergency Medical Services, hosted the 2nd annual Sidewalk CPR Day on Tuesday, June 4th from 10a-12pm.

Kris, who is a drummer for rock band Adema, attended, along with SBBCollege CPR instructors who were on hand to demonstrate the basics and proper techniques of hands-only CPR. Participants had the opportunity to practice on mannequins and were provided with information on relevant courses at the College if they wished to pursue a career in the medical field.

Most of the students in SBBCollege Bakersfield’s healthcare programs, including medical assisting and nursing, have been CPR-certified and were also on hand to answer any questions and assist with the live demonstrations as well.

Rebecca Hoskins, Campus Director of SBBCollege Bakersfield, commented: ‘We are delighted to be hosting the 2nd annual Sidewalk CPR Day and are expecting a strong turnout similar to last year’s event. The importance of CPR training cannot be stated strongly enough as it is a critical link in the chain of survival for cardiac arrest victims. We strongly believe that everyone should know how to do this as it really can be the difference between life and death.’
