Beaches: Santa Barbara’s coastal location means it is blessed with many golden beaches, and you will never be short of a seaside spot to hang out. Within walking distance of campus the best options are East Beach and Leadbetter Beach – both of which have a great range of facilities for playing sports and barbequing so you can enjoy a fully day out.
City Parks: There are lots of great parks around the campus, where you can find some peace or partake in a range of leisure activities. The best parks near campus include Shoreline Park, Honda Valley and Pershing Park.
Softball & Baseball: There are a number of public fields which can be used for softball and baseball games – within walking distance of the campus you can find Cabrillo Ball Field, Dwight Murphy Field, and Pershing Park.
Soccer: Dwight Murphy Field is the main place to play soccer in Santa Barbara. There are also fields available for hire at Chase Palm Park and Ortega Park.
Gyms: Just a 5 minute walk off campus you will find both Key 2 Fitness and Fit Buddha on State Street. 5 minutes in the other direction up State Street you can also find 24 Hour Fitness.
Skating: Skater’s Point on Cabrillo Blvd is a massively popular attraction for skaters, with 14,600 square feet of skating space including many half-pipes and rails. There is also an area set-aside for young and inexperienced skaters to hone their skills safely.
Golf: The picturesque resort of Santa Barbara has numerous top-class golf courses, and you can find some of the best greens by visiting the nearby Rancho San Marcos Golf Course, Santa Barbara Golf Club or Hidden Oaks Clubhouse.
Swimming: There is a selection of swimming facilities in Santa Barbara which are conveniently placed for the campus. Santa Barbara Athletic Club, Swim Club, Hidden Oaks and Los Banos Del Mar pool are all located within walking distance or a short drive.
Municipal Tennis Courts: Municipal is the main destination for tennis in Santa Barbara, with 12 hard courts and court lighting providing a professional style environment in which to hone your skills.
