The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that employment of medical assistants is projected to increase by 35%, in line with the general increase in demand for healthcare professionals. Medical assistants are given a wide range of duties from managing administrative and clinical duties to performing basic laboratory tests.
Areas of opportunity:
Nearly two-thirds of all professional medical assistants work in doctor's offices. Other employment opportunities can be found in hospitals, inpatient and outpatient facilities, and the offices of health care providers such as chiropractors and optometrists.
