If you want to be a member of a professional healthcare team, the Medical Assisting program can prepare you for an exciting career in the medical field. General duties of a Medical Assistant include preparing patients for treatment, assisting physicians with treatment, preparing and sterilizing instruments, and front office management. In addition to medical office courses, Medical Assisting students will learn how to operate EKG equipment. Strong emphasis is also placed on document coding, insurance forms and medical terminology. The graduate will be qualified for employment in a medical office, clinic, hospital or insurance billing office. Graduates will qualify and are strongly encouraged to sit for a national certification test to become Registered Medical Assistants.
