English as a Second Language (ESL) at SBBCollege

Founded in 1888 as Santa Barbara Business College, SBBCollege is an accredited American university in Southern California. SBBCollege offers several English as a Second Language (ESL) programs in California, including Intensive English, Semi-intensive English, English Explorer, Business English, and TOEFL Preparation.

Intensive and Semi-Intensive English

The English as a Second Language program (ESL) at Santa Barbara Business College (SBBC) consists of a series of courses designed to offer international students, for whom English is a second language, the opportunity to improve their language skills. The courses combine in-depth training in nine levels, from beginner to advanced, in the core language skills with additional choices of electives to suit the individual needs of students. The core language skills courses include: Grammar and Communication, Reading/Writing, and Communication Lab.

Students can enjoy small class sizes and a personalized approach to learning. Upon completion of the program, students will receive a certificate and may be eligible to enter the SBBC academic program.

• 15-student maximum per class

 

English Explorer

Come study English in beautiful Santa Barbara, also known as the ‘American Riviera’. Santa Barbara Business College offers a three-week course which includes:

• 20 lessons per week in the mornings (9:00 am - 1:00 pm)
• Accommodation, 2 meals/day (Monday-Friday)
• Airport transfers
• Daily afterschool activities (Monday through Friday)
• Full-day excursions each Saturday and Sunday
• All texts and materials provided
• Santa Barbara Business College Certificate of Completion

Business English

The Business English program is designed for international students to study ESL (English as a Second Language) for a four-week or eight-week period of time focusing on the use and application of English in the business world. The program will offer 4 hours of study per day including: 1-hour of Business English, 1-hour of Advanced Grammar, 1-hour of Business Vocabulary, and 1-hour of Speaking and Presentations. It is offered as a non-credit short program.

 

TOEFL Preparation

The TOEFL Preparation program is designed for international students to study ESL (English as a Second Language) for a four-week period of time and focuses on the iBT TOEFL Test. The program will offer 4 hours of study per day including: 1-hour of TOEFL Reading, 1-hour of TOEFL Listening, 1-hour of TOEFL Speaking, and 1-hour of TOEFL Writing. It is offered as a non-credit short program.
